Double Portion Inheritance
Statement of Faith

 2nd Timothy 3:16

 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

1. The Scriptures

We believe that the Bible (in its original manuscript) is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. Both the Tanakh (Old Testament) and the apostolic writings (New Testament) are equally inspired by God and serve as our infallible guide in all matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine (Ps. 119:160; Matt. 5:18; 2 Tim 3:14-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25).

2. One True God

We believe in one eternal God (YHWH), who is self existent and has revealed Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4; Is. 48:12-16; John 1:1-2, 14-18; John 10:30; John 16:7-15; Acts 5:3-5; Col. 1:16).

3. The Messiah

We believe in the deity and pre-existent incarnation of Yahu'shua ha Mashiach (Jesus Christ) of Nazareth (John 1:1-2; Acts 7:37-38); in His conception by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:26-38); in His virgin birth (Is. 9:6; Is. 7:14; Matt.1:18-25); in His sinless life (Is. 53; 2 Cor. 5:21; Lk. 1:35); in His miracles (Matt. 4:23-25); in His vicarious and atoning death on the cross (Is. 53; Dan. 9:24-27; Rom. 3:21-31; Heb 9 & 10); in His bodily resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of the Father, where He makes intercession for His people (Zech. 12:10; 14:1-21; Matt. 28:1-10; Ps. 110; Ps. 16:10; Acts 1:1-11; Heb. 1:1-3; 7:25).

4. Man’s Creation and Fall

We believe that God (YaHuWaH) created mankind (male & female) in His own image and likeness (Gen 1:26-27; 2:4). But through Adam’s transgression, sin entered the world and caused mankind to fall from his original state of glory and holiness. ”For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). As a result, every man is born with a sin nature that must be redeemed in order to be saved.

5. Man’s Redemption and Rebirth

We believe that man can not be saved (redeemed) through his own good works, but only by grace through faith in the atoning blood of Yahu'shua (Jesus) the Messiah that was shed on Calvary’s Cross (2 Tim. 1:9; Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9; Rom 5:12-21; 1 Cor. 15:1-4). This faith causes us to experience true godly sorrow that leads to repentance, and we become “born again (spiritually regenerated) to a living hope through the resurrection of Messiah Jesus from the dead” (1 Peter 1:3; John 3:3-5; 2 Cor. 7:10; 1 John 5:12). Consequently, we believe that Yahu'shua (Jesus) is the way, the truth, and the life and that no one comes to the Father except through faith in Him (John 14:6; John 6:40; 10:7-9; I John 5:11-12).

6. The Holy Spirit

We believe that when a person is truly “born again” they receive the indwelling presence of God’s Holy Spirit which is known as the first fruits of the Spirit (John 20:22; Rom. 8:23). The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Yahu'shua (Jesus), to comfort and lead believers into all truth, to convict men of sin and righteousness and judgment, and to empower the God’s people unto good works in Messiah (John 15:26; 16:7-16).

7. Water Baptism (Mikvah)

We believe that water baptism (mikvah) is a biblical rite that has been practiced among God’s people since the days of Moses (Ex. 29:4) and is considered to be one of the foundational principles of faith in Messiah (Heb. 6:1; Acts 2:38). Mikvahs (Baptisms) are ritual baths that symbolize repentance from sin and purification from the world. This ritual was practiced by the Levitical Priesthood (Lev. 16:2-4) and by Yahu'shua (Jesus), who is the High Priest of the Melchizedek Priesthood (Matt 3:13-16; Heb. 7:15-17). Receiving water baptism after accepting Yahu'shua (Jesus) as Savior identifies us with His death, burial and resurrection (Col 2:9-13). It also identifies us as New Covenant priests after the order of Melchizedek (Heb. 7:18-28; Revelation 1:6).

8. Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift that God has promised to all believers and is received subsequent to the spiritual regeneration of the new birth (Matt.3:11; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:1-8; Acts 2:33, 38-39). This baptism releases the supernatural “gifts of the Holy Spirit” to operate in a believer’s life (1 Cor. 12:4-11). Although the initial evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is the gift of “speaking in tongues” and “prophecy” (Acts 2:1-4; 10:44-46; 19:6; Mark 16:17), we embrace all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and encourage believers to know and use them as the Holy Spirit wills.

9. Sanctification

We believe that God’s people are called to be holy (sanctified) just as God is holy, “for without holiness no man can see God” (Lev. 19:2; 1 Pet. 1:14-16; Heb. 12:14). Sanctification is an ongoing and progressive work of grace that sets the believer apart unto God in spirit, soul and body (1 Thess. 5:23). Faith in Messiah’s shed blood sanctifies us in spirit (Heb. 13:12; 2 Thess. 2:13), and obedience to His Word sanctifies us in soul and body (Ps. 19:7; Matt. 17:17-20; Eph. 5:26; Heb. 9:13-14).

10. Validity of the Torah

We believe that God’s Torah (five books of Moses) has not passed away, but is the source of all wisdom that leads to salvation by faith in Yahu'shua (Jesus) the Messiah and for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:15-17; Deut. 4:5-6). The Torah contains God’s laws and commandments (teachings and instructions) that guide and protect His people. Therefore, we encourage New Covenant believers, both Jews and Gentiles, to study and apply God’s Torah as clarified through the teachings of Yahu'shua (Jesus) and the apostles (Matt. 5:17-19, 11:28-30; Acts 24:14; 28:23; I Cor. 7:19; Rev. 14:12).

11. Israel

We believe that Israel first originated when God changed Jacob’s name to Israel (Gen. 32:28). Then Israel (Jacob) had 12 sons, whose offspring became a mighty nation known as “the sons of Israel” (Ex. 1:1-7). While in Egypt, Israel became a mixed multitude of Israelites and gentiles who came out of Egyptian slavery under the blood of the Passover Lamb (Ex. 12:37-38). This mixed multitude of Israel was the “church [congregation] in the wilderness” who followed God (YaHuWah) together as one people under one law (Acts 7:38; Lev. 15:15-16; Josh. 8:35). Israel is God’s chosen people, “to whom belongs the adoption as sons and the glory and the covenants and the giving of the Law and the temple service and the promises, whose are the fathers, and from whom is the Messiah according to the flesh” (Rom. 9:4-5). Israel was called out of the world to manifest God’s Kingdom on earth, but they rejected His voice and refused to walk in His commandments. Israel is the natural olive branch that was cut off for their disobedience and scattered among the nations in the Diaspora of 70 A.D. Today, Israel is a secular nation that God has regathered to the Promised Land, where He swears an oath to pour out His Spirit upon them and graft them back into their own olive branch again (Ez. 36:7-38; Rom. 11:23-24).

12. The Church

We believe that the true Church is composed of New Covenant believers who are saved by grace through faith in Y'shua (Jesus) and his atoning death on the cross and have been regenerated (“born again”) by God’s Holy Spirit (John 3:3). The Church (ekklesia – called out ones) began as a body of Jewish believers who were “called out” of the manmade oral laws of Pharisaic Judaism and into the New Covenant teachings of Yahu'shua (Jesus) which consists of writing God’s Torah on the heart (Jer. 31:31-33; Heb. 8:8-10). The Church, like ancient Israel, also became a mixed multitude as gentiles joined with Messianic Jews to proclaim the Gospel of the Kingdom among the nations. Although New Covenant believers have been grafted into the commonwealth of Israel (Rom. 11:17-18; Eph. 2:11-13), Yahu'shua and the apostles did not call them Israel, but specifically refer to them as “the Church” (Matt. 16:18; Acts 9:31; Eph. 3:8-10; Rev. 2–3; 22:16). God established "the Church" as a sect of Judaism that separated itself from the manmade oral laws of Pharisaic Judaism, but not from His written Torah (Acts 13:44-47; Acts 24:14; 28:22). As the Jews increasingly rejected the Gospel and gentiles increasingly received it, the Church became mostly gentile (non Jews) which was part of God’s plan for taking the Gospel to the nations (Acts 13:44-47; Is. 42:6-9; Rom. 11:7-11). As the "gentile" Church grew in numbers, it largely abandoned God’s Torah which was never His will. On the contrary, the apostolic writings of the New Testament call both Jew and gentile to embrace Yahu'shua’s teaching and proper application of the Torah in their lives (Matt. 5:17-19; 11:29-30; Act 28:23; 1 Tim. 1:8; 2 Tim. 3:14-17). When gentiles embrace God’s Torah as a way of life, it is known as the “fullness of the gentiles.” In the last days, this provokes Israel to jealousy which causes them to believe in Yahu'shua (Jesus) as their Messiah, and they are grafted back into their own olive branch (Rom. 11:11, 22-27). This is when the Church, both Jew and gentile, comes into the fullness of the “one new man in Messiah” which emerges as the true “Israel [congregation/church] of God” (Gal. 6:16-17).

13. Hebraic Roots

We believe that Yahu'shua/Jesus and the apostles used many of the customs within the Hebrew culture when clarifying truth in their teaching and ministry of the New Covenant. Therefore, the Hebraic model of ministry and congregational life must be understood and taught in the church in order to fully comprehend the truths found in the apostolic writings of the New Testament (Acts 24:14; 28:23; 1 Cor. 11:2).

14. The Great Commission

We believe in the Great Commission of discipling the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and teaching them to observe all that Yahu'shua (Jesus) commanded.

15. Five-Fold Ministry

We believe in the five-fold ministry gifts of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, which have been given to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry until we all come into the unity of the faith (Eph. 2:19-20; 4:11- 12).

16. The Local Church/Messianic Synagogue

We believe in the autonomy of each local congregation, and that itinerant ministers should be based out of or related to a local church body with accountability to a senior pastor and/or board of elders.

17. Rebirth of Israel as a Nation

We believe Israel is symbolized as the fig tree, and that its rebirth as a nation in 1948 is the fulfillment of Bible prophecy which marks the biblical generation that will see “all things fulfilled” (Hosea 9:10; Ez. 36:8; Matt. 24:32-34).

18. The Great End Time Harvest

We believe that the wheat (God’s righteous) and the tares (the unrighteous) grow up together until they mature and are ready for harvest (Matt. 13:24-30, 36-43). At that time, Yahu'shua (Jesus) harvests His people into His presence, and the angels harvest the wicked into the winepress of God’s wrath (Is. 26:19-21; 1 Cor. 15:50-54; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; Rev. 14:14-20; 15:1 – 16:21; 18:1-24).

19. Return of Messiah

We believe in the literal and personal return of Yahu'shua ha'Mashiach (Jesus Christ) in power and glory to establish His kingdom on earth for 1,000 years and to judge both the quick and the dead (Dan. 7:9-14; Matt. 26:64; Acts 1:9-10; 2 Tim. 4:1; Rev. 19 and 20).

20. Resurrection and Judgment

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all the dead. The believer will appear before the “Judgment Seat of Messiah,” where he will receive his rewards (1 Cor. 3:12-15; 2 Cor. 5:10; Rev. 11:18; 20:1-6), and the unbeliever will appear before the “Great White Throne Judgment”, where he will be damned and thrown into the lake of fire.

Sacred Name of the Creator

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetragrammaton

In the original Ancient form of Hebrew known as "Paleo Hebrew," the name of our creator is simply 4 Hebrew Letters as follows:

Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey

or

Yod-Hey-Waw-Hey

When Israel was taken captive into Babylon, they were ridiculed for using this name of YaHuWaH, so they stopped pronoucing his name in fear that the pagans would take his name in vain and trample on it. Hence the name of YHWH had not been pronounced for many centuries.

In the 1600's, King James hired the Massorites (Hebrew Scribes) to transcribe the Hebrew scriptures into English. The Massorites inserted English vowel points into the name YHVH, hence they came up with YeHoVaH. But the "v" sound or the Hebrew letter "vav" had once been pronounced as a "w" sound as "waw."

At the end of the names of prophets, the name of the Father is seen as "Yahu." Examples are:

Isaiah = Yeshayahu
Jeremiah = Yirmeyahu
Elijah = Eliyahu
Nathaniel = Netanyahu

But in modern Hebrew, a new grammatical rule was invented known as "pre-tonal shortening" which states that when the Father's name comes at the beginning of a name, then it changes from a "Yahu" to a "Yeho." This "pre-tonal" shortening rule did not exist in the days when YHWH revealed himself to Moses and the Prophets. Hence the names of these prophets would've been spelled differently in the Ancient Hebrew than they are today in modern Hebrew. Examples are seen as follows:

Joshua = Yehoshua = Yahushua (ancient Hebrew)
Jonathan = Yehonathan = Yahunathan (ancient Hebrew)
Jehovah = Yehovah = Yahuwah (ancient Hebrew)

The name of our Messiah is actually the name "Joshua" which is rendered "Yehoshua" in modern Hebrew, and Yahushua in ancient Hebrew due to the fact that there was no "pre-tonal shortening rule" in ancient Hebrew. The Hebrew name Joshua means "Yahu is savlation" or "Yahu has saved."

Calling him Yahu'shua is declaring that the Father has saved us in the past and he is continuing to save us in the present and in the future through his son.

The shortened version of our Messiah's name is Y'shua and it means "salvation" in Hebrew. You will see in the articles that I write, that I use "Y'shua" interchangeably with "Yahu'shua." Y'shua is not his proper name, but Yahu'shua is his proper name. If we call him Y'shua, we are declaring that Messiah is our "salvation." But if we call him "Yahu'shua" we are declaring that the Father's salvation is in the son!

The deceased Messianic Jewish Evangelist and historian Art Katz, cites the orgins of the true name of the Messiah and the God of Israel from his former website:

The original Hebrew or Jewish Name of the professing Jewish Messiah, who was accepted as such by a certain section (some 3000 souls) of Israel, at and after His Appearance in Israel, some 2000 years ago. To them He was known as YAHU’SHUAH (abbreviated: Y’SHUAH, also pronounced YEHOSHUA or YESHUA). In time, over the first few centuries after Messiah, His Name was gradually changed to “Je-Zeus Khristos” by the pagan masses who converted and joined the originally Jewish Messianic Sect.

Out of this, Christianity was born, which was a mixture of originally pure Judaism, and gradually, progressive influences of pagan customs and traditions, together with a growing tide of an anti-Semitic spirit. This was greatly due to the instigation of influential leaders like Constantine the Great, who was a Zeus worshiper, and who purportedly converted to Christianity. It was also a natural process as a result of the infiltration of followers of the sun god, Zeus, into the Christian ranks. Even the name of their pagan idol Zeus was applied to their new-found Jewish Messiah - and Y'Shuah (the abbreviated transliteration of YAHU'SHUAH), became “Y’Zeus” or Je-Zeus - which became ‘Jesus’ in English (NOTE - the middle 's' is pronounced as a 'z'). In other languages, it took on various other forms.

And so we can see why the Heavenly Father allowed our Messiah Yahu’shua to take on the pagan name J’Zeus for a time, in order that he might win the heathen nations to himself. Like Queen Esther, our Messiah has a real Hebrew name. Esther’s true name was Hadassah. The Heavenly Father has allowed our Messiah to be given a heathen name for a season so that a later time in history, when “The fullness of the Gentiles” is accomplished, all the nations who love J’Zeus (Y’shua) would rise up to fast and pray for the House of Judah (Jews) to be saved from their enemies.
