Purim: How Does it Point to Messiah’s Renewed Covenant?
By Maria Merola

In the Book of Esther, we read about an evil plot against the children of YaHuW’daH while they were in exile in the Persian Empire.
The wicked Haman hated the Jewish man named Mordecai because Mordecai refused to pay him homage and bow to him. This caused Haman to become bitter towards all YaHuW’diyth (Jews), and as a result he sought to destroy them all.
Haman is a picture of Satan, and Mordecai is a picture of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inspired YaHuW’ShuWA to be an intercessor for Yisra’el, just as Mordecai who was the cousin of Queen Esther, inspired her in her role as an intercessor for her people.
Mordechai Refusing to Bow to Haman is a picture of Messiah refusing to Bow to Satan
When Messiah was in the wilderness for 40 days and 40 nights, Satan wanted YaHuW’ShuWA (Jesus) to bow down to him:
Matthew 4:8-10:
8 Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
9 And said unto him, All these things will I give you, if you will fall down and worship me.
10 Then said YaHuW’ShuWA unto him, Get you hence, Satan: for it is written, You shall worship YHWH your Elohiym, and him only shall you serve.
Because YaHuW’ShuWA refused to bow to Satan, just as Mordecai refused to bow to Haman, Satan then determined to kill YaHuW’ShuWA, just as Haman sought to kill Mordecai.
And so Haman schemed to become the right hand man of King Ahasuerus, thereby positioning himself to convince King Ahasuerus to sign a decree stating that all the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) should be killed on the 13th day of the 12th month of Adar.

The First Covenant Amended & Ratified Not Nullified
YaHuWaH used Queen Esther to save the House of YaHuW’daH (Jews). Her Hebrew name was Hadassah which means “myrtle tree” and this is a metaphor of the gospel. The root from where her name derives is “Chadash” which means “to renew, rebuild and repair.”
The term “Renewed Covenant” in Hebrew is called “Brit Chadashah”, which literally means “Circumcision Renewed.” Esther’s Hebrew name means that YHWH had “renewed” his covenant with Yisra’el, and he did not do away with the old one. It is a “dispensationalist” error to believe that our Creator ever does away with any of his covenants once they are made. He is a “Covenant-Keeping” Elohiym, and he never breaks one single covenant that he makes. It was Yisra’el who broke the covenant with YHWH, but he never broke it. He merely divorced her in Jeremiah 3:8 to signify that he was putting her away because of her uncleanness. But he promised in the book of Hosea and in Isaiah 54 that he would restore Yisra’el, clean her up, and receive her back unto himself. Hence the “Renewed Covenant” that he intended to make with Yisra’el was not meant to replace the old one, but to restore her back to the Covenant that he made with her in the first place before she broke it at Mount Sinai with the golden calf.
In the same way that our Messiah was sent to “renew” the Covenant with Yisra’el, YHWH sent Esther to “renew” the decree that was against the House of YaHuW’daH (Judah, Jews) and to bring in an added decree whereby now they were able to defend themselves and overcome the enemy.
And so we see that Esther was a “type” of Messiah in her role that she interceded for her people, just as YaHuW’ShuWA interceded for us on the cross.
The First Covenant was against the children of Yisra’el (not because the covenant was flawed), but because they were unable in their sinful flesh to keep Torah. And so YHWH gave them a “Renewed Covenant” whereby they were given the power of the Holy Spirit that would enable them to keep Torah (Law of Moses).
And so it is fitting that Queen Esther’s Hebrew name is Hadassah, because it comes from the root word “Chadash” which means “Renewed.” The First Covenant that the evil Haman devised against the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) would certainly lead to death, just as the First Covenant of the Holy Law of Moses would doom us all to death, because in our flesh, no man is able to keep it.
And so in order to give us the power to overcome the sinful nature, a “Renewed Covenant” was given. Likewise, Esther was instrumental in bringing about a “Renewed Covenant” that gave the children of YaHuW’daH (Judah, Jews) the power to defend themselves in the war between the Persians.
Esther risked her life as she fasted and prayed for 3 days and 3 nights, just as YaHuW’ShuWA (Jesus) our Messiah gave his life for us and was “3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth” before resurrecting from the dead to “new life.”
On the third day of her fast, Esther asked for the life of her people before her husband, King Ahasuerus, just as YaHuW’ShuWA asked for the life of his people Yisra’el before his Heavenly Father on the 3rd day.
YaHuW’ShuWA went into the lowest parts of the earth and preached the good news of the kingdom to all the saints who had died under the First Covenant who were in the Bosom of Abraham. He also “gave gifts to men” which is the gift of salvation. (Ephesians 4:8-9, Luke 16).
On the third day after his crucifixion on the Passover, he resurrected on a feast day called “First Fruits” (see Leviticus 23:17). He DID NOT resurrect on “EASTER”, (Babylonian goddess of fertility) this is a lie of Satan!
YaHuW’ShuWA acted as our High Priest in the temple, as he waved the “First Fruits” offering of souls before the Father in Heaven.
YaHuW’ShuWA brought in the “First Fruits” of the harvest of men’s souls on the third day.
Lots Were Cast for Messiah’s Garment & Lots Were Cast for the Best Time to Kill the Jews

Esther asked for the life of her people YaHuW’daH (Judah) before her King, and he granted that the children of YaHuW’daH (Judah, Jews) were allowed to fight against their enemies. As a result, they “crushed and brought to nothing” the wicked plans of Satan that was against them.
The word “Purim” in Hebrew comes from the root word “Pur” which means “to crush, to bring to nought.”
The word “Pur” also means “lots” and we see here that the men who were under the authority of King Ahasuerus cast lots or “Pur” to find out when it was a “lucky” time to destroy the children of YaHuW’daH (Judah). They consulted the “Lots” as if consulting a fortune teller:
Esther 3:7 In the first month, that is, the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, that is, the month Adar.
Another parallel that we can see here is that the Roman Soldiers cast lots for the garment of YaHuW’ShuWA while he hung on the cross:
John 19:24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which said, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
And so the decree was given that the Persians were to attack the children of YaHuW’daH (Judah) on a certain day:
Esther 3:
13 And the letters were sent by posts into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish, all YaHuW’diyth (Jews), both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.
14 The copy of the writing for a commandment to be given in every province was published unto all people, that they should be ready against that day.
15 The posts went out, being hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in Shushan the palace. And the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city Shushan was perplexed.
Now there is something that I would like to point out here. Once the king signed a decree with his own signet ring, nobody could reverse that decree, not even the King himself.
This goes to show us that a covenant can never be reversed or broken. Once Yah made a covenant with the children of Yisra’el, he himself will not break it. And so the First Covenant, no matter how holy and just it was, it was “against us” because our sinful human nature is unable to live up to the perfect law of YHWH. The curses that are written in Deuteronomy 28 for breaking the commandments of YHWH were against us, but our Messiah blotted out the curses (not the law itself).
That is why a “Renewed Covenant” was given to us so that the Holy Law of Moses would be written in our hearts and minds, thereby giving us the power to keep the Law/Torah. Messiah did not blot out the Law of Moses, as many falsely believe and teach. But he blotted out the “handwriting” of ordinances (dogma, man-made laws, traditions), because it was “against us” to have commandments and doctrines of men. The sinful nature and the commandments and doctrines of men was blotted out, and nailed to the cross---not Elohiym’s holy laws.
Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.
The Greek word here for “ordinances” is “dogmatizo” which means “a decree,
doctrine, of public decrees, of the Roman Senate, of rulers.”
But it can also mean: “the rules and requirements of the law of Moses; carrying a suggestion of severity and of threatened judgment.”
What was this “handwriting” that was “blotted out”?
In Numbers 5:29, there is the “Law of Jealousy” for when a wife has committed adultery on her husband and it is hidden from his eyes. The wife must drink bitter water that is mixed with dust from the floor of the temple. Then the priest would write the curses in a book and then blot out the curses with the bitter water.
Numbers 5:23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:
The wife would then drink the cup of bitter water and if she was guilty of adultery, her thigh would rot and her belly would swell. But if she was not guilty, she would be free from any curse and then she would conceive.
In the same way that King Ahasuerus issued a man-made decree against the YaHuW’diyth (which was against them), so Messiah also blotted out the handwriting of man-made laws (dogma) which was against us. The “doctrines and commandments of men” were the pagan customs and laws invented by institutional religion. And these were the pagan customs that made Yisra’el an adulterous. Messiah therefore acted as the priest who blotted out the handwriting of curses that were written in the book of life against Yisra’el for her harlotry.
The House of YaHuW’daH (Judah) was taken captive into Persia because of their idolatry and adultery against YaHuWaH in the first place, and now the man-made decrees from the Persians were against them to destroy them. Esther interceded on behalf of her people and made an appeal to her husband who in turn added a clause to the decree to allow for the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) to defend themselves against this evil decree. And afterward, a “New Decree” was written by Esther and Mordechai that the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) were to celebrate their victory over this evil decree from year to year. Hence, Esther was used to “blot out” the old decrees invented by men (along with the curses), as she then brought in a new decree whereby their victory over Satan would forever be remembered as a monument of how YaHuWaH answered their prayers
The law in stone tablets given to Moses, was holy, and just but never-the-less it was incompatible with our old sinful nature. Therefore, a new nature was given to us, whereby we are now able to keep the Law/Torah by the power of the Holy Spirit.
YaHuW’ShuWA gave us a Renewed Covenant which is the Holy Spirit writing the Law of Moses (Torah) in our hearts and in our minds.
Haman Paid Money to Betray the House of Judah and Judah Paid Money to Betray the Messiah

Queen Esther’s cousin Mordecai made a plea asking her to go on behalf of her people to her husband King Ahasuerus:
Esther 4:
7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the YaHuW’diyth (Jews), to destroy them.
8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to show it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.
You will notice that Haman paid money into the King’s Treasury in exchange for having him sign this evil decree against the YaHuW’diyth (Jews). The same thing happened when Judas was paid a sum of money to betray YaHuW’ShuWA to the High Priests and Roman Soldiers.
Matthew 27:3 Then Judas (Judah), which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.
King Ahasuerus was not able to reverse this decree once he signed it with his own signet ring. Therefore, a “Renewed Covenant” or decree had to be issued enabling the children of YaHuW’ShuWA to defend themselves and fight.
This goes to show us that YHWH did not do away with the First Covenant as many Christians falsely teach and believe. The First Covenant has been “ratified” or “renewed.” An “addendum” was added to the First Covenant in the same way that King Ahasuerus added an “addendum” to the decree that he signed. The old decree was “against us” because it was a death sentence. But the new decree, did not cancel out the old decree. The new decree added a clause that stated that the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) could fight for themselves and defend themselves. In the same way, YHWH made a “Renewed Covenant” which enables us to “fight” the good fight of faith against our enemy Satan who seeks to destroy us with sin.
And so we see that after the House of YaHuW’daH (Judah), won the victory over their enemies, Queen Esther pronounced a feast called “Purim” which means “to crush.” The children of YaHuW’daH (Judah), celebrated the fact that through their intercessor, Esther, they were able to “crush” the plans of Satan who had wickedly plotted against them.
We can see a picture of our Messiah in the story of Queen Esther as we celebrate the fact that through our Messiah, YaHuW’ShuWA, we as believers are granted the ability to “bruise the head of the serpent” (Genesis 3:15). We who have faith in YaHuW’ShuWA have the victory over all his wicked devices!
Messiah Forsaken by the Father in Heaven & Esther Forsaken by Ahasuerus
When Messiah hung on the tree, he felt as if the Father in Heaven had completely forsaken him. He even quoted a Messianic prophecy about himself from Psalms 22:
Psalm 22:1 My Elohiym, my Elohiym, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
Of course the Heavenly Father had not really forsaken him but it merely felt that way while he hung there on the tree. Because he had to take upon his body the curse of sin and death, the Father had to hide his face from him, because YHWH is too holy to be in the presence of sin.
Likewise, Esther felt as if she had been forsaken by her husband Ahasuerus when he failed to call upon her for thirty days. The sentence for appearing before the king uninvited was death, and so the same thing is true with our Father in Heaven. We cannot approach his throne lightly with sin in our lives. If the High Priest in the Temple went into the Holy of Holies unworthily he would die on the spot!
Esther 4:11 All the king’s servants, and the people of the king's provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or women, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
Both Esther and YaHuW’ShuWA Messiah felt as if they were forsaken for a moment but at the proper time, they both found grace in the eyes of YaHuWaH to approach the throne of the King to save their people!
In this story, the wicked Haman built a gallows from a “tree” (symbolic of the cross) intending to hang Mordecai on it. But Haman’s plan backfired when he was asked by King Ahasuerus what could be done to show honor to a man whom the King had found favor with.
Mordechai Honored by Ahasuerus & Messiah Honored by his Heavenly Father
Haman suggested having the man wear the King’s Robe and also have him ride the King’s Horse around the city before all the people. Haman thought that the King intended to honor him, but the King intended to honor Mordecai the YaHuW’diy (Jew) because Mordecai saved the life of the King when some spies plotted to have the King killed.
Esther 6:
7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honour,
8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides upon, and the crown royal which is set upon his head:
9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man withal whom the king delights to honour, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honour.
Here is a picture of our Messiah when he rode through Jerusalem on a donkey’s colt the week before his crucifixion. The people “proclaimed him” just as Mordecai was proclaimed before the people that he was honored by the King:
Matthew 21:
4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 Tell you the daughter of Zion, Behold, your King comes unto you, meek, and sitting upon an donkey, and a colt the foal of a donkey.
6 And the disciples went, and did as YaHuW’ShuWA commanded them,
7 And brought the donkey, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the name of YHWH; Hosanna in the highest.
And he will do it again at his second coming:
Revelation 19:
11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he does judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
Esther Had a Hidden Name & Messiah Had a Hidden Name
Now there is something that I want to point out here concerning the name that “no man knew but he himself.” Our Messiah’s name has been hidden for centuries as the Gentiles have given him a pagan name J’zeus. Queen Esther also had a hidden name. Her real name was Hadassah but her cousin Mordechai told her not to tell anyone that she was a YaHuW’diyah (Jewess) and he told her to go by the name of Esther. The name Esther comes from the pagan goddess of fertility (Easter). YaHuWaH knew that she would have to take on a pagan name in order to go “incognito” (undercover) to save her people. Messiah did the same thing as he has been hidden under a Greco-Roman identity with a Greek name J’zeus. But now, as the latter days draw near, Messiah’s name and true identity is coming to light. People are beginning to call him by his real Hebrew name YaHuW’ShuWA, and they are beginning to see him as a YaHuW’diy (Jew).
Haman & Ten Sons Hung on the Gallows & Messiah Hung on a Tree for Ten Tribes
The gallows that Haman intended to hang Mordecai on ended up being used to hang him and his ten sons. Once King Ahasuerus found out about Haman’s wicked plot, he ordered that the gallows which Haman had built for Mordechai would be used to hang him and his sons instead. In the same way, Satan thought he would destroy Messiah on the cross, but instead, YaHuW’ShuWA resurrected and Satan’s kingdom (the ten horns on the Beast) was defeated on that cross! Haman is a picture of the Antichrist, and his ten sons represent the “ten horns” on the beast in Revelation 13. These “ten horns” are ten nations or political powers that will seek to destroy the House of YaHuW’daH (Judah) and the modern State of Yisra’el in these last days.
The very thing that Satan intended to use against our Messiah was actually used to destroy his own kingdom!
The Scepter of Judah Given to Messiah & Esther Given the Scepter by the King
When Queen Esther went before the King after three days and three nights of fasting, she pleaded with him for the life of her people the YaHuW’diyth (Jews). As you can see, there is a prophetic picture here of the “scepter” which King Ahasuerus extended to Esther the YaHuW’diyah (Jewess):
Esther 5:2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.
Esther 8:4 Then the king held out the golden sceptre toward Esther. So Esther arose, and stood before the king.
You will notice that a very important prophecy is being fulfilled here! What prophecy am I referring to? Ya’aqob (Jacob), who was later given the new name “Yisra’el” by YHWH himself, prophesied over his 4th son born to him by Leah. His name was YaHuW’daH (Judah). Listen to what he tells the son named YaHuW’daH (Judah), who would later on become a tribe of people known as “YaHuW’diyth” (Jews):
Genesis 49:
8 Judah, you are he whom your brethren shall praise: your hand shall be in the neck of your enemies; your father’s children shall bow down before you.
9 Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, you are gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from YaHuW’daH (Judah), nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
What are we seeing here? We are seeing Queen Esther being given the “scepter” that belongs to the Tribe of YaHuW’daH (Judah)! Her King and husband Ahasuerus is a picture of the heavenly Father handing her and the tribe of YaHuW’daH (Judah), the “authority” or the “scepter” to make decrees! YaHuW’daH (Judah) is a lawgiver and Esther the YaHuW’diyah (Jewess) and her cousin Mordechai were given the authority by YHWH to make a decree that this feast called “Purim” should be remembered every year as a memorial for the House of YaHuW’daH.
In the end, the King gave the house of the enemy to Esther, just as the Heavenly Father gave Satan’s Kingdom to YaHuW’ShuWA. The King gave his ring to Mordecai as a symbol of the Father giving his authority to YaHuW’ShuWA.
Esther 8:
1 On that day did the king Ahasuerus give the house of Haman the YaHuW’diyth (Jew’s) enemy unto Esther the queen. And Mordecai came before the king; for Esther had told what he was unto her.
2 And the king took off his ring, which he had taken from Haman, and gave it unto Mordecai. And Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman.
Haman’s Estate Given to Mordechai & Satan’s Kingdom Given to Messiah
In this story, King Ahasuerus represents the Heavenly Father, and Haman represents Satan. Mordecai represents the spirit of Messiah (the Holy Spirit). Esther represents the physical person of YaHuW’ShuWA Messiah himself as well as the “bride of Messiah” or the “body” of Messiah. The true remnant in the body of Messiah are being called out now like Esther to lay down their lives for the YaHuW’diyth (Jewish) people.
When King Ahasuerus took the ring away from Haman and gave it to Mordechai (representing his authority) this is a picture of the Father handing down his authority to the Son (YaHuW’ShuWA) who then took away the keys from Satan, (Revelation 1:18) and then he in turn handed down his authority to his followers the “keys to the kingdom.”
Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
When YaHuW’ShuWA went back to heaven after he resurrected, he gave his ministry over to the Holy Spirit:
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me:
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
King Ahasuerus his gave authority to Esther just as the Father in Heaven gave his authority to YaHuW’ShuWA. In turn, Esther handed that authority to Mordecai, who is a “type” of the Holy Spirit. Likewise, we have YaHuW’ShuWA proclaiming here in the above verses that he will send us the Holy Spirit to continue his work.
Luke 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The Scepter of Judah Given to Esther to Write Decrees
And so to this day, the House of YaHuW’daH (Judah) celebrates this time as decreed by a two chosen vessels of YHWH (Esther & Mordechai). If your heart is circumcised and you have the Holy Spirit in you, then you are considered to be joined to the House of YaHuW’daH (Romans 2:28). Those who are born again believers in YaHuW’ShuWA Messiah are now joined to him and his tribe called “YaHuW’daH” (Judah).
Esther 9:
15 For the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.
16 But the other YaHuW’diyth (Jews) that were in the king's provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,
17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
18 But the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.
19 Therefore the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.
20 And Mordecai wrote these things, and sent letters unto all the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) that were in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus, both near and far,
21 To establish this among them, that they should keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar, and the fifteenth day of the same, yearly,
22 As the days wherein the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.
23 And the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) undertook to do as they had begun, and as Mordecai had written unto them;
24 Because Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, the enemy of all the YaHuW’diyth (Jews), had devised against the YaHuW’diyth (Jews) to destroy them, and had cast Pur, that is, the lot, to consume them, and to destroy them;
25 But when Esther came before the king, he commanded by letters that his wicked device, which he devised against the YaHuW’diyth (Jews), should return upon his own head, and that he and his sons should be hanged on the gallows.
26 Wherefore they called these days Purim after the name of Pur. Therefore for all the words of this letter, and of that which they had seen concerning this matter, and which had come unto them,
27 The YaHuW’diyth (Jews) ordained, and took upon them, and upon their seed, and upon all such as joined themselves unto them, so as it should not fail, that they would keep these two days according to their writing, and according to their appointed time every year;
28 And that these days should be remembered and kept throughout every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and that these days of Purim should not fail from among the YaHuW’diyth (Jews), nor the memorial of them perish from their seed.
29 Then Esther the queen, the daughter of Abihail, and Mordecai the YaHuW’diy (Jew), wrote with all authority, to confirm this second letter of Purim.
30 And he sent the letters unto all the YaHuW’diyth (Jews), to the hundred twenty and seven provinces of the kingdom of Ahasuerus, with words of peace and truth,
31 To confirm these days of Purim in their times appointed, according as Mordecai the YaHuW’diy (Jew) and Esther the queen had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seed, the matters of the fastings and their cry.
32 And the decree of Esther confirmed these matters of Purim; and it was written in the book.
The Sceptre of YaHuW’daH (Judah) had been extended once again by the mighty hand of YHWH through the earthly king Ahasuerus as he handed his authority to Esther and Mordechai.
This means that YHWH gives his children the Sceptre to rule over their enemies!
Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over.
